Panoramic Singapore Book Launch
28 September, 2006, 8pm
Panoramic Singapore by Tay Kay Chin:
After more than three years of planning, Panoramic Singapore is finally a hardcover book. Weighing in at nearly 1.2 kg, and measuring 36.5 cm x 26.5 cm x 2 cm, most of the 40 images were taken between February and June of 2001, when Kay Chin was waiting for his work visa so he could move to the USA. Based on this body of works, Hasselblad selected him as one of its Masters in 2003. Self-published with a generous sponsorship from Epson Singapore, the book also contains an English essay by Cherian George, one of Singapore's finest thinkers, and a Chinese essay by Tan Kay Ngee, well-known architect, writer, critic, and founder of Kay Ngee Tan Architects Gallery. Designed by Randy Ang of Caffeine Creative, this first edition hardcover book is limited to 500 copies, each numbered and signed by Kay Chin himself.
From now until Chinese New Year 2007, Panoramic Singapore is available at Kay Ngee Tan Architects Gallery at a special price of S$100.
In conjunction with the launch of the book, 10 copies of the books bearing hand-picked numbers will be auctioned off in aid of the ST Pocket Money Fund.
The numbers are 32, 82, 188, 228, 282, 288, 328, 338, 388, 399.
All proceeds from these 10 books will benefit the Fund. Minimum bid is $1000. The auction is still on!
